DEAR DIARY — Part 10

Part 10

Dear Diary,

Adam and I went to a Christmas house party last night, and it was actually so much fun. I honestly can’t the last time I went to a proper college house party—usually, I’m buried under a mountain of books. Some friends of friends were hosting it, and I was so excited to find out that Rachel and Kelly were there too. It has been way too long since I last saw them, mostly because my life lately has been completely consumed by an intense mix of schoolwork and my nightly hypnosis sessions with Adam.

The beer was flowing copiously, and the whole place had such a high, chaotic energy. Adam and I danced together for a while, just letting loose, before the party inevitably devolved into a series of rowdy keg stands. Neither of us partook in that particular part of the festivities, but we stood by and watched the spectacle for a bit.

There was this little freshman girl who was one of the first to volunteer for a keg stand, and she actually lasted a lot longer than I would have guessed. It was pretty obvious that she was brand new to the college party scene, though, because she kept regularly shouting out to the whole room about how drunk she was. It really didn’t help her case that she was dressed like a total slut. I’m not sure who told her that’s what college parties were supposed to look like, but she stood out a lot—and not necessarily in a good way.

Both surprisingly and luckily, Ava was also at the party. Ava and I don’t really get along that well anymore; we see each other in class all the time, but she completely stopped talking to me a while back. I don’t think she has changed her mind at all about the fact that I’ve opted to show off my body a little bit more lately. It’s not like I’m dressing scandalously or anything, but my new style clearly doesn’t fit her rigid image of how a senior woman should dress. I also have a strong feeling she absolutely hates the fact that I dyed my hair blonde.

So, it was a huge surprise to see her there, especially since I rarely ever run into her outside of a classroom setting. But it turned out to be incredibly lucky, because Ava stepped up and offered to take that drunk freshman girl back to her dorm room. There were definitely a few guys lingering around who had been watching the girl closely. I couldn’t quite tell what their motives were, but in a situation like that, it is always better to be safe than sorry.

I’m a little tired now, I’m going to sleep. I have a big day waiting for me tomorrow.

I am already amazed at how serious Jessica has become with her new fitness routine. She went ahead and got herself a personal trainer at the campus gym, and she has been doing absolutely everything he tells her to do. I know it typically takes more than a week for behavioral habits to become truly locked into the subconscious, but if she keeps up this current level of dedication, I am going to need to start working out a lot more myself just to keep up with her.

On my end, I have been doing my part to the transformation by making sure we eat much healthier. During the week, I head over to her apartment and prepare dinner for the both of us. The timing has worked out perfectly; usually, by the time I am done cooking, Jessica has had just enough time to get home from the gym and wash off in the shower. It is a system that seems to work incredibly well, and it gives me a seamless excuse to spend consistent time with her.

After dinner is when I routinely put her into a trance. Often, once I bring her back up, we end up having sex of some kind. I am starting to wonder if Jessica now completely associates the state of hypnosis with physiological arousal and sex. Interestingly, I have not given her a single post-hypnotic suggestion regarding her libido or her desire for sex since a while, but that has not stopped her from sometimes literally tackling me onto the bed the moment she opens her eyes. Not that I am complaining in the slightest, of course. It shows the conditioning is taking a life of its own.

This week’s plan is to focus on getting Jessica to smile more. She has a genuinely beautiful smile, and just seeing it is enough to brighten my entire day. I would love to see it on her face much more often. I think the chronic stress from her heavy school load make it difficult for her to smile at the world, but I am hoping I can nudge her to express more outward joy. It would be fantastic if a bright, vacant smile eventually became her natural resting face.

I am purposely being cautious and avoiding adding anything more complex to her programming this week. Her daily exercise routine has not yet become an ingrained, permanent habit, and I do not want to overload her subconscious while it is still processing the physical conditioning. Small, steady increments are the key to a permanent rewrite.

Dear Diary,

I can’t believe it, but today was officially the last day of classes before Christmas break! I am so incredibly happy to be heading home to see my family for the week, but at the same time, a part of me is really sad. Going home means a whole week of no nightly hypnosis sessions with Adam. I honestly don’t know how I’m going to handle it; I know I am going to miss him and his voice so much over the next few days. I’m also feeling a little bit nervous about what my parents are going to think when they see my new blonde hair. I haven’t seen them since this summer, so it’s going to be a massive shock for them, but I’m trying to stay positive and think they’ll end up really liking it.

Something kind of weird happened today, though. I saw Ava in class, and when she came over and sat down next to me, she gave me this long, confused look and asked me what on earth I was smiling about. I was caught completely off guard and just mumbled, “Nothing,” but her asking me that really made me wonder. Was I actually sitting there smiling at nothing?

Lately, I have definitely felt a lot happier and lighter than usual. I had just assumed it was because my schedule finally cleared up, the break was starting, and I was excited to see my family without a mountain of academic stress hanging over my head. But it made me think about something I read a while ago—that just the physical act of smiling can subconsciously trick your brain into feeling happier. Maybe that’s exactly what’s going on with me right now. My face is just doing its own thing, and my mood is following along. Not that I’m complaining at all; it feels amazing to not be an anxious mess for once.

Otherwise, everything in my life is going absolutely great. Kyle, my personal trainer at the campus gym, told me today that I’ve been incredibly responsive during our workouts. He said I’m making small but really solid, steady improvements every single time I go, which gave me a huge confidence boost. I guess all that time at the gym is finally paying off.

Adam has been completely wonderful too, as always. And the sex... god, the sex has been absolutely fantastic lately. I know I probably mention it in here way too much, but goddamn, does that man know how to make a girl happy. He just looks at me and it’s like all my shyness completely melts away. I just hope this happy, confident feeling lasts through the week without him. I need to finish throwing the last of my things into my suitcase so I can get a little bit of sleep before my trip tomorrow.

Love,

Jessica

Dear Diary,

Merry Christmas Eve! I am writing this from my childhood bedroom, and honestly, it feels so surreal to be back here. I was so incredibly happy to finally see my family after what felt like the most grueling semester of my entire life. The second I walked through the front door, my parents both froze. To say they were completely shocked to see that I had dyed my hair a bright, platinum blonde would be a massive understatement! My mom actually gasped, and my dad just blinked at me for a few seconds like he wasn’t entirely sure he had picked up the right daughter from the station. But once the initial surprise wore off and we sat down to talk, they were actually incredibly sweet about it.

During dinner, they immediately started asking all about school. They were so pleased and relieved to hear that the research for my two theses has been progressing so well. They kept going on and on about how proud they are of my academic achievements, which always makes me feel good, but it also brings back that old, familiar weight. I think in their minds, they already have my entire life mapped out for me. They kept dropping hints about how they want me to pursue a high-powered career, talking about me either staying in academia to become a university professor or heading off to law school to become a lawyer.

To be completely honest, I don’t even know what I think about any of that anymore. Lately, I am just starting to get so deeply fed up with all this intense academic pressure. The thought of g up for years of more schooling or a high-stress corporate job makes my stomach turn. I just want to breathe.

Because of how intense they get about my future, I still haven’t told them a single thing about our plan to move across the country to California with Adam once the school year ends. I’ve been keeping it completely under wraps because I just don’t know if they will approve of me packing up my life and moving away for a guy, especially since they have such traditional expectations for me. I didn’t want to start a massive family argument right before the holidays, so I just smiled and changed the subject whenever California or graduation came up.

Speaking of smiling, both my mom and dad commented multiple times today that I seemed completely different. They kept saying how much more relaxed I look compared to the stressed-out mess I usually am when I come home. They noticed right away that I’ve been smiling constantly. Mom told me it was so wonderful to see me looking so happy, even if she did tease me a little bit by saying it was also a tiny bit strange. She noticed that sometimes I just stand there smiling into space for absolutely no reason at all, and she joked that it made me seem a bit silly and spaced-out.

Her saying that instantly made me pause. Sitting here in my room, away from the chaos of campus, I’m really starting to wonder if these new habits aren’t also Adam’s doing. First it was the clothes, then the hair, then the constant need to be at the gym, and now this permanent, happy smile that I can’t seem to shake off even if I try. It’s like he left a little piece of his voice inside my head before I left. But you know what? I’m really not going to complain about it. Before Adam started helping me, I was constantly anxious, sleep-deprived, and miserable. I feel so much better, lighter, and happier this way, even if I do look a bit silly smiling at the walls.

I miss him like crazy tonight. Christmas Eve just doesn’t feel entirely complete without him here to put me to sleep. I can’t wait until this week is over and I can be back in his arms, listening to his voice again

Love, Jessica
