Reader’s Picks: hypnosammy
Email: hypnoseattle321@gmail.com
I’m incredibly thankful for Simon and mcstories for shaping my tastes in mind control fiction for the last decade or so, and I’m so excited to be sharing some of my top picks. I’m a hypnoswitch at the end of my 20s, and more often read these stories wanting to be in the position of the victim/hypnotee. Seduction, style, aesthetics, and just a smattering of romance and love—those are the elements that make a fantastic piece of mind control fiction in my books.
You Shouldn’t Read This — Rilawild
One of the most thoroughly insidious, well-written pieces of erotica/induction that I have read, and one that I keep on returning too. RilaWild truly captures the essence of feeling like you’re being subtly manipulated and remolded, of seeding just the smallest of doubts that your mind is no longer your own. It’s hot as fuck, and geez, I hope to one day melt for someone in this way.
Wait for the Blackout — Jukebox
We never actually see the hypnotist here, and this story is made all the better for it. It’s a gentle burn, but each step feels purposeful, and so, so deeply arousing. This is definitely on the side of things that should stay firmly in fantasy, but God, what a hot fantasy. That little scene of protest in the center really puts the cherry on top. I find that having a smart MC who is realizing what is happening to her mind is exactly needed for this kind of manipulation.
Also, since this is the first Jukebox inclusion on my list, let me just sing their praises for a moment. What a master at being able to write hypnosmut in basically any kind of scene, setting, pairing, situation, and relationship. Sometimes, I swear he just rolls some dice to figure out the character traits, and yet, manages to write absolute gold every single time. Hats off to you—you are a real inspiration.
What can I say, I’m an absolute sucker for these kinds of accidental hypnosis, as well as for the sappy, lovey-dopey kind of hypnotic relationships here. There’s probably a bit of a repressed nerd in me that wishes someone would fall into my lap with that perfect set of kinks that matches my own—I’ve beaten it pretty hard out of Actual Me, but I guess it’s not the worst thing in the world to fantasize about it from time to time, right?
Text Parser — HypnoticHarlequin
A delightfully simple conceit, executed to perfection! I love the incorporation of the text adventure RPG elements, as well as the kind of snarky comments when selecting actions. There’s just enough control and puppetry throughout the story, with the lightest sprinkle of sexiness and silliness that I have come to associate with all of HypnoticHarlequin’s works.
It’s a lot of fun to watch them slowly discover more and more triggers, and I like how there is at least some sort of narrative that the unseen hypnotist has put together about why those particular phrases are used. Half the fun is seeing Emma mindlessly follow orders and then immediately forget, and the other half comes from the giddy excitement that the others have in trying to figure out the puzzle.
Did I mention that I love it when the tables are turned? The sudden transformation from a playful yet professional home chef to becoming a blank drone, ready to be used and needing to please, is one of those things that I love to see. Of course, half the fun is to see how shy and reluctant Gabriela is here, almost painfully so and not quite believing the feast that is in front of her.
I’m pretty sure that I came across Chewtoy/WellGnawed/GentlyBitten even before I had found mcstories, so this is one of my OG favorites. This story is bite-sized; it’s so soft and gentle, and it barely has any eroticism in it—but the pure joy of finding some small amount of lingering suggestion, and the light teasing from Betsy just makes it feel so sweet, like a chocolate slowly melting in your mouth!
This one is absolutely devious. It’s on the longer side, almost and has enough characters and twists and clever wordplay to keep you hooked. Trying to figure out the rules of the game alongside Luc, while also observing the way that Lynne flexes her power across the entire party is so incredibly hot.
Fascination — by Jukebox
I think this might have been the very first story I had found on mcstories, period, so it certainly occupies a place of sentimentality in my heart. (I also think that it might have been one of the first stories that I had found through the “Reader’s Picks” section, so it really makes it feel like it comes full circle!) However, even re-reading it 13 years later, it’s one of the nicest, sweetest pieces of accidental hypnosis. The soft pushing of boundaries, the ever-growing arousal and eroticism, all contribute to this gentle sweetness that sways as slowly as the eponymous crystal.
