I’ve been reading mind control stories for a while now, and have greatly enjoyed getting to write my own! I started writing mostly on a whim, but I’ve really enjoyed contributing to the forum since. It’s a great hobby, and it’s helped me appreciate other peoples’ stories so much more.
I generally gravitate towards stories that are able to execute on a unique concept and explore the limits of the fairly limitless genre of mind control. I can also appreciate a good time manipulation story, and I really enjoy stories that explore themes of betrayal. I generally read and write MDom/FSub stories, just cause that’s what I’m attracted to myself, but those are flexible limits if the story is well written enough.
There are plenty of stories on the site that explore the idea of a young guy finding and manipulating an attractive older woman, but I’ve yet to find any that execute on that concept as well as this one. This is one of few stories where our mind controller actually underestimates his own capabilities, allowing us to see the gradual but inevitable shift in his target’s demeanor as she falls under his power. It does a great job of showing corruption from the target’s perspective and gradually twisting her thoughts to his desires.
Happy to Oblige by Downing Street
This is another story written from the perspective of a target of mind control. Here we get to see a teacher slowly corrupted by her student. What I love about this story is the way she builds up her resolve, sticks to it, then immediately crumbles as soon as our mind controller subverts her expectations even slightly. It’s a great way to show the limits of her willpower, as well as the strength of his influence. I also like the little tidbits we get throughout the story to show that our main characters is far from her student’s only target, but the focus remains firmly on her. It does a good job of making the story feel more fleshed-out.
That Would Be Wrong by A Sinister Bent
This one has a fairly simple premise, with a young student getting control of a powerful artifact. What I appreciate is its brevity and its focus. Our main character has his eyes on one woman, and virtually everything he does is in service of manipulating her. He does control other characters, but the story never dwells too much on its side characters. That focus is what makes it such a good read, the mind control is used both directly for sex as well as to facilitate his goals. I can appreciate it when a story actually makes the mind control feel like a part of the plot, as obvious as that may sound.
When I say I enjoy stories that execute well on their concepts, this is what I mean. Decor is about a world where people can volunteer to be frozen in place as decorations. The author then takes this concept and fleshes it out with multiple types of freezing, a conspiracy, and a varied cast of characters that are constantly put into situations that effectively utilize the premise of the story. Aside from satisfying my MC-adjacent timestop fetish, this story is also just really well written. It’s a shame it was never finished, but what we got is more than enough.
Popularity Potion by Hypknot Eyes
I don’t have a huge explanation for why I think this story is good, it just is. It takes a clever concept and executes on it well with a short, fun story with a slightly unconventional means of control. I liked the way we’re introduced to the potion and the extent of its effects in a very careful, clinical fashion, only for our main character to go all in as soon as he knew what he wanted to do. All in all, good read.
Campus Court by ThePurpleD3viL
ThePurpleD3viL has written a lot of stories I like, but this one has to be my favorite of theirs. I really enjoy a story that involves using mind control to turn a characters friends and loved ones against them, and this story has that in spades. It’s also willing to be a little bit ridiculous in service of executing on its premise. I will concede that it gets a little bit weird for my taste at the very end and the writing can feel a bit pulpy, but that’s a relatively small criticism in the grand scheme of things.
I’m certainly not above a good bully story, and this one is near perfect. What I love about this story is the gradual escalation and the way we see our protagonist’s will slowly crumble under the weight of a force she never even gets a chance to recognize. Watching her standards and her anger slowly fall away as the bully toys with her is very entertaining.
I appreciate stories that are not only hot, but playful, and this story is all about that. The way the various status effects are introduced is fun, and harkens back to actual video games in a way that makes it enjoyable to read. Unfortunately it’s only one chapter, I feel like there was a lot more potential for this one than what we got.
The Script by Dogdog
This story doesn’t take itself seriously at all, and I can respect that a lot. I love the way the control is implemented, how completely amoral the person who has the power is, and seeing the many ways he uses that power for his own ridiculous ends. I especially appreciate the descriptions of the affected characters knowing something’s wrong but being unable to figure it out. All that said, I’m not crazy about the way the author fetishizes Asian women. It’s a small nitpick, but one’s that pervasive throughout this story.
Are You Gullible by Wesley King
I’m surprised at how few stories there are in the mind control genre that involve characters being made to believe whatever they’re told, but this one is definitely my favorite. I love the way our protagonist toys with his target’s gullibility in totally innocent ways before sneaking in genuine manipulation without her noticing. It makes the story feel lighthearted while also building towards a finale that’s kind of sweet in its own twisted way.
