Aurora Afraid

June pressed closer, her arms wrapped tight around Aurora’s hips. Her voice was possessed now of a sultriness that bordered on predatory. Aurora’s breath caught in a tight little gasp. She had no idea what she she ought to say or do here. She felt her skin getting warmer. Feelings she felt ill-accustomed to swirled and burned beneath her flesh, feelings which left her face flush and hot. June pressed her body even tighter against Aurora’s back and her presence felt overwhelming.
“I...ah—” Aurora managed to stammer out. June giggled and nuzzled her face into the crook of Aurora’s neck. Somehow coming from Aurora’s roommate, even that soft little gesture felt intimidating. It made no sense- June was both smaller and younger than her, so why...?
“You’re beautiful, Aurora, you know that?” Whispered June in an almost hateful growl of...affection? She was used to young men talking to her like that, but it never affected her coming from them. Not like this did...!
“I- oh, a-ah, thank you—!” Aurora wheezed out. Her thighs trembled pitifully beneath the weight of her increasingly heavy-feeling body. June stayed wrapped around her, the girl’s body seeming to envelope Aurora’s completely. “I’m h-happy to hear—!” She tried to squeeze the words out as she felt something between her legs. June’s hand tugged experimentally at her skirt.
“Huh...?” Aurora gulped.
Aurora jolted awake with a violent start. Her chest rose and fell as she breathed heavily. The covered window allowed in zero light, and the lights were off, so she couldn’t see anything and had no idea what time it was. She did know she was lying on her back atop her bed. She tried to what happened the...god.
WAS it the previous night?
She craned her neck, still heaving down gulps of air, to cast a glance at her alarm clock. Its vibrant digital display read two twelve. She figured the windows would allow in a little light, even covered, if it was so shortly after noon. It stood to reason then that she’d awoken at two in the morning.
She grimaced and palmed her forehead, chastising herself for doing something so stupid. She wasn’t even in her pajamas, her sleep schedule was gonna be all out of whack, and she... no, actually, she didn’t have her shoes on at least. Had she removed them before she ed out? She must have, right? She had to have...
She groggily rose from her bed with all the weary shaking of a living corpse un-entombing itself. As she lifted her body back onto its feet, she noticed her panties were sticking to her. Her tired mind hit a wall and ground to a halt. She stood stock still, her eyes narrowing even though she couldn’t see anything anyways. What had...happened...?
Her stomach churned. The last thing she ed was a vague agreement to let her roommate hypnotize her. Had June...done something to her? She felt a cold flush through her body in waves that permeated down to her bones. Would her roommate take advantage of her like that?
No. That was ridiculous. They were both girls, and besides, June obviously wasn’t brave enough to prey on her own roommate so flagrantly less than a week into her freshman year. There had to be more to...whatever this was.
Dismissing the troubling ideas in her head, Aurora stripped as quickly and quietly as she could. She took care to bury her panties as thoroughly as the dark allowed her to. For reasons she couldn’t quite dissect, the notion of having them discovered filled her with a feeling resembling fear. She threw her pajamas on, heart pounding, and flung herself into bed. This time she wriggled her way under the sheets properly. Sleep took its sweet time to take her.
June returned from her morning classes and glanced at her phone. She had a message from Aurora. She frowned at the screen, trying to if this had ever happened before. To her knowledge, it had not. She’d been repeating this ritual for an hour now.
June’s stomach stayed how it had been since she first saw the alert- churned into a knot. She had hypnotized Aurora the previous night, without proper negotiation or even really rapport. She’d let her hunger think for her- BAD girl! She’d hurt Aurora and now her roommate was either pissed at her or worse, felt violated! What else could possibly be happening?
She knew she ought to read the message as soon as she possibly could. She knew there was literally zero upside to pushing it off like this, and it made her a bad person that she did so anyway. But that knowledge did nothing to lessen the anxiety that crushed her entire nervous system like stones whenever she thought about it- which she had not stopped doing for a moment.
She sighed at last- having caught herself doomscrolling- and decided to look at the text message she’d been so frightened by. She navigated to it and read.
“Hey. I woke up at two in the morning. I hope I didn’t disturb you. I know my phone woke you up even earlier than usual. I’m sorry about both.”
June breathed out a sigh of relief. She felt so much weight leaving her body that for a moment it left her walking on air. But the message continued. She had to scroll down a little farther.
“I wanna talk about last night. One pm, after my classes?”
June gulped, her worries exploding out of control and running rampant. She had to answer, and ignoring Aurora would only make things worse...! What was she to do?
June bit her lip softly and waited. One pm wasn’t quite here. Surely she had as long as she’d been promised, surely with just five more minutes she could think of something-
The door opened and Aurora let herself into the shared dorm room. She moved slowly and her head hung such that June had trouble seeing her face. Fear stabbed at the girl, driving her towards motion. She hopped to her feet on instinct. She moved thoughtlessly towards Aurora, seeking to help. Her body practically fell sideways through the air in a stumbling motion.
Aurora appeared to snap out of her funk. The girl dropped her bag on the floor and looked up at June. Now that her face was more clearly visible, June locked her eyes onto it. Aurora didn’t seem angry so much as tired, but June felt shaky trusting that. June froze.
“Oh- you’re early, haha,” June muttered, her stomach in knots. She got such a beautiful roommate, she couldn’t believe she’d fuck it up so fast...
“I try to be early always,” Aurora answered flatly. Her tone told June next to nothing, which terrified her. She felt like she’d seen a movie monster’s scales flicker as it slithered through the dim illumination between two zones of total darkness. Was Aurora going to feel violated? Would she get violent? What-
“So...you wanted to talk?” June forced the words out. They resisted being spoken but the process carried itself out automatically anyway. She needed to get this over with. She couldn’t let her poor roommate think she was the type to shirk consequences or sidestep ability like that.
“Yeah, I...” Aurora fixed her mouth. Was she thinking of what to say? “What...did you do to me?”
“I...hypnotized you...?” June whimpered fearfully. She felt proud she hadn’t done something stupid like blurt out “NOTHING.” Still, that pride offered little comfort in the face of potential disciplinary action four or five days into her stay at an expensive college. Even if she didn’t get expelled, her father...!
NO. No thinking about him. Thinking about him caused death spirals. She was better. Than that. She DESERVED. Better. Than that.
June noticed Aurora staring at her in wait of an answer. Fuck! She’d missed a question!? God damnit, she was so-
“I’m sorry, could you repeat that?” June asked with a forced but polite smile. She prayed Aurora would not simply extend her arms and- fuck.
Damn it.
CONCENTRATE!
“After that.”
Another pause. Aurora seemed to catch herself. She rephrased it.
“I asked what you did, after you hypnotized me.”
“Nothing!” Blurted out June in spite of herself. She fought an impulse to clamp her hands over her mouth- it would do no good, and only leave her implicated further. She clarified. “You, I put you under easily enough but you fell asleep and- okay so I know you associate hypnosis with ‘ooooh you are getting sleepy’ and stuff but like they’re different states of mind BUT kind of closely related which is probably why it’s named after the Greek god of sleep, same reason why the,” it occured to her midsentence that randomly dropping trivia about rohypnol would ABS-FUCKING-LUTELY not help her case, “nevermind, point is, I used a relaxation induction to get you under and then you got so relaxed you fell asleep. I probably should have woken you up but you looked so relaxed and PEACEFUL that I couldn’t bear the idea of disturbing you!” June stopped to catch her breath.
“You—”
“And then I noticed you were positioned funny so I tried to wake you up but nudging you didn’t work and you kinda, moved into place yourself and—”
“You’re crying!” Aurora cut her off. June went still. Oh fuck, she WAS crying. What kind of fucking-
“A-ah. I guess so haha,” she tried to laugh it off. Typical.
“Hey, hey, it’s okay,” said Aurora in a soft deep voice. It tickled some dormant part of June’s brain that suddenly made her really horny.
Oh no.
“I- I’m fine,” June sniffled, “I hurt you. I’m sorry and—”
“No, I believe you. There, there. Breaaaathe,” Aurora told June while rubbing her arms. June’s brain shattered into a blooming fractal of frantic tv static. That fucking voice was doing things to her, but it was also so soothing and easy to listen to...
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I should’ve woken you up,” June rambled in spite of herself. God, she felt pathetic. Maybe she was clear of getting into trouble but in the short term this actually felt worse. God, she was a wreck, why was this getting to her, she was so STUPID!
“Hey, I said it’s okay,” Aurora insisted with a gentle smile. To June’s shock, Aurora grabbed her chin and gently used the leverage to coax out eye . June stared, her blurry vision insufficient to hide Aurora’s darling eyes or unmistakable look of patient care. Having such a pretty face smiling at her from so close calmed her quickly.
“I...I...okay, um, right, yes, it’s fine if you say it’s fine,” June stammered as she brute forced her emotions back under control. She blinked and wiped at her eyes for a few seconds to remove all the tears. It worked well enough. “I, promise I didn’t do anything untoward.” She felt terrified.
“I believe you, tehe~” Aurora giggled.
“I believe you, tehehe~” Aurora giggled, hoping her face looked less flush than she felt. It took considerable effort not to a glance towards her laundry hamper but she managed. Whatever happened to her panties, she felt suitably sure it wasn’t June’s doing, and would thusly pry no deeper. God, had she wet herself? It had been so little though, and didn’t smell like anything...?
No. She had to keep her head in the game. Poor June was so guilty as it was, adding any extra cause for grief would be cruel of her. Aurora maintained a gentle smile. She felt her heart wiggle as June’s face rapidly shed all signs that she’d been crying. The two stood there staring at each other’s faces for what couldn’t be long, and June’s face returned to normal so rapidly Aurora got to watch it transform in real time.
“There, there. It’s okay~” Aurora reassured her roommate. A little longer ed before Aurora let go. June seemed to have fully recovered already. “I’m sorry I sprung that you on you like that. You clearly take this stuff very seriously~” praise always cheered up her little brothers. She hoped it would do the trick for June as well.
“I’m- I’m fine,” June said with an averted gaze and rosy cheeks. Aurora chose not to ask any questions. She turned and started setting up her laptop to make progress on homework.
June stayed where she was. It didn’t seem that noteworthy at first, but when she stood in the same spot several minutes later, it pricked at Aurora’s mind. Had she messed up? She hoped June was just lost in thought or “zoning out”— she did those from time to time- but she usually fidgeted with her arms or kicked at the air when her brain was turning, right? Did that quirk of hers just go away under sufficient stress? Aurora didn’t want to prod the elephant in the room, but she didn’t want to look cold either. After another few minutes the tension drove her to break the silence.
“Hey, June, is something wrong?” Aurora asked. Clearly something was, but asking “what’s wrong” seemed like behavior implying just a bit too much closeness for roommates who’d known each other for less than a week. Aurora really didn’t want June feeling upset about this, she seemed like a sweetheart and a reasonable young lady.
Why did you think I had?
It was a simple question. Direct, honest, little to no room for misinterpretation or other hazards of communication. It expressed why June was upset, cleanly open a path to correct any misunderstanding, and did so quicker than any other option.
Unfortunately, reasonable questions didn’t work on allistic people. June was nowhere near stupid enough to reach college age without allowing life experience to teach her that. If she asked, Aurora would not hear “why did you think I did something,” she would hear something closer to “why do you think I forced myself on you,” and then she’d react accordingly. That was the good possibility, too. It was the possibility which assumed Aurora wasn’t willing to look someone-who she fully believed to have gotten handsy with her in her sleep the night before- in the eyes, and tell them with a smile that they had nothing to feel guilty about.
Besides, the subject was dropped. The conversation was over. June had survived unscathed. The ball went to Aurora’s court now, and June had no power or say over what happened next. Any attempt to impose her will now was only further proof she deserved suspicion.
“Hey, June, is something wrong?” Aurora asked, piercing the fog that covered June’s mind. She felt her heart seize in panic.
“I...well...” her heart pounded. She wanted to ask. She wanted desperately to ask. The fear and ambiguity killed her. She wanted to resolve, to know, to be able to go to sleep in however many hours without feeling like she had a sword of Damocles chained to the ceiling above her. But she knew better than to disturb the situation, but—!
“Oh, it’s...n-nothing,” June said as she turned towards her own backpack. Homework was probably a good idea, she figured. As she stooped over her stuff, she heard fabric rustling.
“It’s okay, really, I promise. I was being silly.”
Oh. Oh, god. Oh God, no. No, that was bad, that was not acceptable-
Jesus, of course the first girl she fucked up with immediately victim blamed herself about it! No no, June absolutely could not leave that, if teaching Aurora to stand her ground meant being expelled then sobeit.
“No, you weren’t,” June replied in a voice far flatter than intended. Fuck!
She swiveled and saw Aurora flinch. Shit. Shit. No. Goddamnit. She sounded hostile and agitated, that wasn’t what she meant-
Aurora had never heard June’s voice do that before. The girl was usually so animated and full of life and powerfully opinionated that hearing her say anything in such a blunt and empty voice felt like walking into a pole. She couldn’t stop herself from reacting, and her heart sank to see June turn fast enough to notice it.
“I- It’s not a big deal, I promise,” Aurora laughed, trying to bury the problem. It didn’t work. June just stared at her harder.
“I hurt you,” June started.
“No, you didn’t.”
“Then- what—”
“I had a dream!” Aurora blurted out. June froze. The look of cornered animal terror on her face evaporated instantly, leaving June looking...confused, maybe, or perhaps stranded?
“You...huh?”
“I had a...dream you were touching me,” Aurora told the truth. “And I...mised like it had actually happened,” Aurora half told the truth.
“O-oh,” said June. Stress visibly evaporated from her body, leaving the girl’s posture considerably more relaxed. “Well I...you don’t have to believe me, but I didn’t. Was the dream, uh...“
“Good?” Aurora asked.
“I was going to say violent,” June mumbled, “but obviously good is. Better. Was it?”
“I suppose so,” said Aurora. Her voice made it clear she felt less sure of that than she wanted to come across. “Overwhelming, though. I think that’s why I...you know. And I’ve never woken up, like that, before.” She glanced subconsciously at her hamper. Hopefully June didn’t notice.
“Like...what?” June sounded like she wanted to help, and Aurora HAD just leveled a pretty intense accusation, so she felt her privacy was an unreasonable thing to protect at this point (at June’s expense, at least). That didn’t mean the confession came any easier.
“Well...ah...my, panties were...wet.”
June’s eyes blew up with understanding. It made Aurora want to roll into a little ball and take cover under her bed.
“You had a wet dream about me,” said June as if those words meant anything.
“What’s a wet dream?” Asked Aurora.
