The Path of Insinua

Part One (b): The Fallen Veil

The soft, electronic glow of half a dozen computer screens lit the frowning face of Veronica Cain, better known to the people of Veneba City as the superheroine Veil. But she was here in her own home, wearing comfortable, loose-fitting pajamas instead of the black and purple form-hugging costume she had worn for some twenty years in protection of the city. Here, she could afford to think of herself by her real name, not the public face she had crafted in her younger days, inspired by the heroics of the Dark Paragon himself, Tenebraen.

Veronica had grown up in a middle class family, and unlike so many of the other heroes she had met since, had suffered no significant trauma that led her to a life of crimefighting. Her parents had been kind, contented people, and in fact still were, living a relatively peaceful existence running a mildly successful deli uptown. Her older brother was an ant at a small private company, and her younger sister worked at a car dealership. They were a perfectly ordinary American family, if perhaps a bit more sensitive to the plight of innocents than most.

Throughout high school, Veronica had been that rare mixture of shy nerdy girl and talented athlete. The latter was the result of countless hours of gymnastics and martial arts training throughout her childhood, but the former meant that she did what she could to hide her remarkable physique. Her early talent in gymnastics had given her coaches ideas of Olympic gold, but puberty had given her breasts that most of her classmates would have killed for. And unfortunately, they had all but ruined her chances in competitive gymnastics.

Veronica kept up her healthy behaviors throughout high school, but focused more on her schoolwork. She developed a particular love of the sciences, specifically chemical and computer science, and she became something of a tinkerer with both. She wore simple, baggy clothing that did nothing to show off her figure, and rarely dated, which later on would prove useful in hiding her superheroine persona. It was a good life, comparably uncomplicated, and Veronica graduated high school near the top of her class and started at the local University that summer.

It was near the beginning of October her freshman year that her life changed forever. Her college roommate, a young woman named Tracy, was nearly assaulted on campus one night, but was saved by a mysterious man in a black costume and cape. He called himself Tenebraen, the Dark Paragon. Veronica had heard a few things about him in the news, but this was the first time she really thought about him, and what he was doing. Tracy’s life took a completely different trajectory after the encounter, as Tenebraen’s kindness inspired her to change her major from political science to criminal justice. She later ed the police force in Veneba City and is still a detective there today. Veronica also became inspired, but her path was a bit more…direct.

For her entire first two years of college, Veronica collected stories and anecdotes about the Dark Paragon of Virtue in Veneba City. His desire to help people, at great personal risk and for no reward except possibly renown, inspired her, and she found she was developing a bit of a crush on him. Actually, if she were being completely honest with herself, it was becoming something of an obsession. She had never considered herself a pervert by any means, but by the end of her sophomore year, she found herself masturbating thinking of Tenebraen on a nearly nightly basis.

At the beginning of her junior year, Veronica moved into a small apartment just off of campus. She had been working at a small tech store nearby all throughout her first two years, and with the academic scholarships she had earned, she was able to afford it. That was when she decided to follow Tenebraen’s example. She had stayed in martial arts and was quite accomplished, and she believed she would make a difference, so she set out to craft her persona. Taking inspiration from the Dark Paragon, she went with dark colors and a flowing cape, although, using her knowledge of chemistry, added a few tricks involving blinding gas. She took the name Veil, and began patrolling the campus.

She managed to stop around a dozen assaults and attempted robberies before she met her hero. To this day, she found the circumstances of their first meeting hilarious. There had been a small string of carjackings near campus for a few weeks, and Veil had worked out their general pattern, and was therefore staking out what she thought would be their next hit. It turned out she was right. Meanwhile, Tenebraen had been tracking a new drug distribution racket in the City. As luck would have it, Veil’s carjackers happened to hit one of the drug dealers on a delivery. Both Tenebraen and Veil made their move at the same time, took down their respective criminals, and then stared at each other.

For Veronica, it was a surreal moment, meeting her hero and inspiration, and not to mention her primary sexual fantasy. For Tenebraen, as he told her later, it was the first time he had seen another superhero. He had never really thought of himself in those , and it was a moment that sort of shook him, worrying that his “inspiration” was going to get someone killed. He also itted to her much later, after they had been dating in “real life” for a while, that that night, she was far and away the sexiest woman he had ever seen. Yeah, he got laid the night he said that to her.

Some people say that you should never meet your heroes, but Veronica disagreed. That night started something wonderful. She had to give herself a lot of credit for holding it together that night. As a shy girl with almost no sexual experience, the fact that she was able to keep herself from acting like an obsessed fangirl was a point of pride. So was the fact that she stopped herself from dropping to her knees and sucking his dick right there in the street. She managed to play it cool, and eventually they developed a friendship, and then a relationship. Even now, some twenty years later, she considered the day she married Darren Cain, also known as Tenebraen, to be the happiest day of her life.

Veronica ired, respected, and trusted Tenebraen, and she was at least as confident in his abilities as he was. Still, she couldn’t help but worry whenever he was out on patrol or, as was the case tonight, responding to an emergency. Although some of the newer heroes in the city had made deals with the government to become “official,” Veil and Tenebraen were essentially vigilantes. Therefore, to be useful, they needed to hack into the official systems. In doing so tonight, they had come across a silent alarm tripped at a museum downtown. It was Tenebraen’s turn, and so he went, with Veil watching his back from their home.

Veronica cursed, and not for the first time, that they had never gotten a video link to work. She would have preferred to see what he was seeing. At least she had perfected the comm system, so she could hear him when he whispered, but could also hear everything around him. Both of their suits also carried trackers, so she could see from satellite placement that Tenebraen had arrived on a nearby rooftop, overlooking the museum. He wasn’t moving, and hadn’t said anything.

“Do you see anything yet, Tenebraen?” They were always careful to use only their hero names over the comms. Veronica was a borderline genius with computers, and had thoroughly encrypted the signal, but there was always somebody better, especially with the increase in metas since the Event.

“Nothing yet,” her husband said back.

Veil frowned again, and scanned through the displays on the other monitors. She looked up the police systems and read through their active reports. “The silent alarm is still going, but the cameras have all been cut. Police are en route, but a third-rate museum in that part of town is a pretty low priority for them. Do you see anything on the roof?”

“It’s like you suspected,” she heard Tenebraen say. “There’s a small helicopter up there, and no helipad. It must be the perp’s escape route. Any ID on the perp, by the way?”

Veil scanned through the displays. She had already pulled up their database of various villains they had encountered over the years, cross-referenced with the database kept by the police and the government hero agencies that had sprung up. She had entered the behavior into her self-designed search, but it had been fruitless so far. “Nothing. The cameras are out, and somehow the recordings have been corrupted. And from what little we know, this doesn’t seem to fit anyone’s MO.”

“Alright,” Tenebraen whispered. “I’m going to take a closer look. If anything- wait!”

Sudden, irrational panic gripped Veronica then. “What is it? Are you okay?”

Despite the comm system automatically amplifying Tenebraen’s voice, Veil could tell he had lowered his whisper even more. “The roof access door to the museum just opened,” he said. “I’ll get back to you.”

Veronica closed her eyes. She knew how capable he was, but that didn’t stop her from worrying. “You be careful, Love.”

This was the part Veil hated the most. Once again, she just wished she could see. She had a world of information at her fingertips with this set-up, but she had no visual. All she could go on was whatever Tenebraen reported back to her, which meant that if anything happened to him, all she could do was wait and panic. She glanced around the displays. Police were still a couple minutes away from the scene, and they had not called in any special units, which meant this was, in fact, low priority for them. All she could do now was wait.

Suddenly, Tenebraen’s voice came through again, low and calm. “I’ve got eyes on the perp. Female. Red-head. About five-nine, five-ten, appears to be mid-twenties, early thirties at the oldest.”

Veil was already typing as she responded. “I’ll check the databases, but that doesn’t ring a bell.” Over the twenty years or so that she and Tenebraen had been fighting crime, they had encountered several villains. Some had been one-time crooks who had been put away forever, while others had proven more elusive and vengeful. If this woman was in her mid-twenties, she likely hadn’t been around for all that long, which narrowed down the options, but from the description, Veil guessed she was new.

Tenebraen seemed to agree with that assessment. “I don’t recognize her. But she’s either got her goons dressed up like museum security, or, more likely, we’re dealing with a mind controller.”

Veil froze. She hated to it it, especially because her own daughter was one, but metas scared the hell out of her. She loved her daughter, of course, more than anything, but she had seen what some metas were capable of. And the telepaths, in particular, scared her, though again, their daughter was in that category. The thought that someone could force Tenebraen to turn on her, or she on him, scared her far more than any physical confrontation could.

“Shit,” she finally said. “I don’t feel good about you tackling a mind controller alone.”

“It’s okay,” Tenebraen’s voice was soft and caring. “I trust our training. That anti-brainwash module Fortress put together was top-notch. How many metas have tried to take your mind or mine over the years?”

Veil thought for a minute. They had encountered a villain named Beyo about twelve years earlier, one of the first metas they had tangled with. That was before they had met and befriended Fortress, who eventually developed the training Tenebraen mentioned. Beyo had mesmerized Veil one night, and gotten her on her knees, fully believing she was pleasing her husband and not some nightclub act turned petty thief. When Tenebraen arrived and broke Beyo’s jaw, she had snapped out of it, and finished the job on the real thing later that night.

After that, they were more careful, and went through Fortress’s training. Whisper, a wannabe spy, try to take over Tenebraen about a decade ago and get him to steal some government secrets, but their anti-mind control training had worked. The same happened three years later with Illusious, who tried to trick the married couple into killing each other. The most recent was Doctor Oculin, a recurring problem for the couple, but who only three years ago developed a mind-controlling ray and had half the police force under his control. Again, Fortress’s training had paid off, and Tenebraen and Veil had thwarted him.

“Four that I can name off the top of my head,” Veil said. “But we know nothing about this one. Just be careful.”

“I will. And just in case, the failsafe. If it sounds like I’m falling under, zap me unconscious and get everybody you can to me.”

The thought of having to use that system, which she herself had designed as a last resort, made Veil profoundly uncomfortable. But if it were between that and losing her husband’s mind to some brain-thief, she would take the shock.

“You know it, Love. Good luck.”

There was no response, but after a moment, the dot on one of her screens representing her husband began to move. It moved across the map projected behind it to cross the street and arrive on the roof of the museum. A moment later, she heard a woman’s voice gasp the word “you!”

“Yes. Tenebraen, the Dark Paragon,” she heard her husband say. God, she loved that confidence in his voice. Even after twenty years, she still got wet when she heard him talk like that. She heard him continue. “And you are committing a crime, something I cannot abide. Give yourself up peacefully and you won’t be harmed.”

Veil held her breath as she waited, hoping the woman would give up easy. Eventually, though, she heard her respond. “So is this what you do with your evenings? Fly around, ruining a girl’s good time?”

She immediately disliked the woman. She sounded a bit too flirtatious for Veil’s taste, especially knowing that the woman was talking to Veil’s husband.

“Is that your decision, then?” Veil smiled at Tenebraen putting her in her place.

“No, no, it’s not that!” Veil heard the woman say in a concerned tone. “It’s just, you must have something you would rather be doing with your time. I mean, you must like watching some streaming videos and relaxing, right? Everyone does.”

Veil’s right hand was on the computer’s mouse, and she felt her middle finger twitch. She used it to tap, without pressing, the right mouse button a few times. She must be getting impatient, and this woman was starting to annoy her. She almost pressed her comm button to tell Tenebraen to just take her out, but she prided herself on not being that nagging wife.

“What I do in my free time is none of your concern,” she heard her husband tell the woman. “Your time free, however, is about to come to an end.”

Veronica smiled. It certainly wasn’t the best line her husband had ever delivered, but she shared his dorky sense of humor. And, as his confidence grew, she grew more and more excited for their celebration later that night.

“Look,” the woman said. “I know you have to do what you have to do, but please, understand, I didn’t have a choice! What it all comes down to is snakeskin lubrication aardvark venereal enzymes.”

Veil’s eyes glazed over slightly, and she looked downward, away from the screens. She tried to figure out what the woman was saying, but those words seemed to make no sense together. She ran a quick online search for the phrase, but nothing of consequence came up. Before she could think about it too long, Tenebraen spoke. Leave it to him to keep his mind focused on the job at hand.

“Who are you? And what are you doing here?”

“I have a perfectly reasonable explanation for that,” the woman said. Veil had gotten pretty good at reading people from their voice, and there was something about the woman’s tone that told Veil she should believe her. “The only thing I need to be sure of, though, is opulent benedictory exclamatory yielding.”

Veil’s breath caught in her throat just slightly. She tried to process this second string of nonsense words, but nothing was coming. She thought she heard her husband start to say something, but then she heard the woman’s voice again, saying, “To answer your question, I call myself Insinua.”

Veil tried to place the name. It felt like she knew it somehow, like there was something about it she should recognize. When nothing seemed to click, she focused instead on the woman’s voice. She could not see the woman, but just based on the voice alone, she assumed she was sexy. She sounded sexy. Actually, now that she was thinking about it, this woman had just about the sexiest voice she had ever heard. Veil was not particularly into women, although she and Tracy had experimented a little back in college. Suddenly, as she heard this woman talk, the taste of pussy popped back into her mind, and she found herself smiling. She bet this woman’s pussy tasted sweet.

Veronica was just beginning to examine where that thought had come from when she heard the woman speak again. “But you can just call me Mistress.”

There was that confidence that she had always found so attractive in her husband, this time coming from this undoubtedly beautiful woman. Veil found herself hoping that the woman did, in fact, have a good explanation for this. She believed her that she did. Maybe, if all three of them could come to an understanding, they could get a little more adventurous in their marriage tonight.

“And what about my other question,” she heard Tenebraen ask. “What are you doing here?”

“It’s just a big misunderstanding,” The woman said. Believe her. “You see, the things that were loaded onto this helicopter are mine. The museum stole them first, so I should have them back. They make me happy, you see.”

Veil smiled. She was glad that Insinua had a good explanation. Then she heard her husband’s voice. “Still, if these things are yours, you need to go through the proper, legal channels to get them back. You can’t just break into a museum in the middle of the night and take them.”

Veronica frowned. What the hell was Tenebraen doing? She wanted to turn her mic on and tell him to play it cool. If he played his cards right, he might be able to bring this woman into their bed. Tonight. They had never done anything like that before, so maybe he didn’t know it was an option. But as Veil pictured eating this woman’s pussy out while Darren was taking her from behind, she knew it was very much an option.

“Well, I do see your point,” the sexy woman said. “But things work a little differently for me. I’m a Mistress, after all, and Mistresses own. You believe that, don’t you?” Veil nodded. She did believe her. “Mistresses need to be obeyed.” Believe her. “Now, compare that to, say, a slave. Especially a sex slave. A sex slave does not own, but rather is owned. That makes sense, doesn’t it?”

It made perfect sense to Veil. Without realizing it, she brought her left hand up and started rubbing her breasts through the pajama top as she listened to Insinua’s incredibly sexy voice.

“Sex slaves are not obeyed,” Insinua said. “Sex slaves obey.” Believe her. “Now, let’s figure this out, shall we? I’m a Mistress. I own things, things like jewels, and antiques, and sex slaves. Because I am a Mistress, I need to be obeyed, isn’t that right?”

Veil nodded enthusiastically, and she heard her husband’s voice say, “Yeah, I guess that makes sense.”

After a moment’s pause, she heard Insinua’s voice again. “And you are a sex slave.”

Veronica believed her. She had never really thought of herself as a sex slave before. She had, for as long as she had known Darren, been sexually submissive, sure. She prided herself on taking care of him in bed, in the ways he seemed to want to be taken care of. And he was always so confident, so strong, that it felt good to just relax and do whatever he said. But now, Insinua was making everything so clear. It all made sense now. She was a sex slave.

She heard Tenebraen say something, but she didn’t quite catch it over the moan she let out as she squeezed her nipple hard. She was just so, so horny.

“Oh, I think you are,” the sexy Mistress said. “In fact, I think you are my sex slave.” Veil moaned again, this time just from the thought. She hadn’t yet considered that she might be anybody’s sex slave other than Tenebraen’s, but, considering Insinua was a Mistress, it made sense for Veil to believe her. “The evidence is clear, and undeniable. In fact, in less than ten minutes, you’ll see that I’m right. After all, I’m always right.”

It felt so good to finally know that she was a sex slave, and to know that, in just a few moments, there would be no more doubt about it. She listened anxiously as Insinua continued.

“Let’s examine the facts, shall we? Sex slaves are horny and aroused.” Veil nodded in complete agreement. “And you are horny and aroused.” There was no denying that. She could feel her panties soaked through already. “Specifically, sex slaves are horny and aroused for their Mistress, and you were not horny or aroused until I started talking, now were you? That must mean that I am your Mistress, because I am the one who made you horny and aroused. And if I am your Mistress, that must make you my sex slave.”

It all made sense now. Veronica had always been submissive in bed, but Darren had never really treated her like a sex slave before. Now she knew why. It was because he wasn’t her master. Insinua was. It felt like everything was finally falling into place.

“Now,” Insinua continued, “there are certain behaviors that sex slaves must always exhibit, especially with regard to their Mistress. The most obvious of these, of course, is that a sex slave obeys its Mistress, no matter what the command. Even if the sex slave would not ordinarily do something, if its Mistress orders, the sex slave obeys without thought or reservation.” Veil heard a deliberate pause on the other end until that unbelievably sexy voice continued. “I am your Mistress. You are my sex slave. You will obey.”

Veil, of course, fully believed her.

“This is a command from your Mistress,” Insinua said. “Lower your pants, and place your hand on your genitals.”

Veil obeyed instantly and eagerly. She sat there, in the computer chair, naked from the waist down, her left hand kneading her tits through her pajama top, her right hand resting atop her pussy. A few moments later, she heard her goddess’s voice say, “Masturbate for me, slave,” and instantly, Veil’s fingers were moving, vigorously moving in and out of her cunt as her thumb thrummed her clit. She was at it for only a few second when Insinua said, “Sex slaves should drop to their knees when they masturbate for their Mistress.”

The words had barely entered Veronica’s ears before she slipped forward onto the floor, pushing her chair away behind her. “With each stroke,” Insinua said, “your devotion to me grows. Your pleasure will build and build until it is too much for your mind to take. When you reach that point, your mind will stick, and time will seem to freeze for you, until I give you permission to orgasm. It will be the most intense, the most impossibly powerful orgasm of your entire life, and when it happens, you will be mine completely. All of your previous beliefs, all of your previous convictions, all of your previous loyalties, they will all be replaced by your complete and utter devotion to my every whim.” Veil believed her. She believed every word, every syllable, as she finger-fucked herself into obedience. After a long pause, she heard Insinua say, “You. Are. Mine.”

The pleasure was intense, more than anything Veronica had ever felt. Sex with Tenebraen had always been good. Better than good, really. She had never been with another man, so she had no point of comparison, but she had never once felt unsatisfied. This, though, was so much more intense. Her Mistress was fucking her whole body, and fucking her mind, as well, and there was nothing in the world that could compare. She felt her body begin to lock, and felt time slow down, as everything in her life shifted. It was as though the solar system itself stopped revolving around the sun, and began revolving around Insinua.

As everything locked for Veil, she was only ingly aware that Insinua was speaking, but she was unable to follow any of the meaning of her Mistress’s words. They were not commands, so Veil had nothing to obey, and they were not permission to cum, which was the only thing Insinua had commanded her to wait for. So she just knelt there, on the floor of her home, waiting for the command that would end the old Veronica, and begin the new, better one. She waited on the edge of time, three fingers buried in her pussy and her thumb pressing her clit, waiting to be reborn.

The next thing she became aware of was Insinua’s voice, finally saying the words Veil had waited eternities to hear. “Cum for your Mistress, slave.”

A dam broke within Veronica, and she came harder than she ever imagined possible. Her scream might have been heard for blocks had she not soundproofed the room. Her vision blurred, and tears of ecstasy flowed from her eyes. She lost all strength in her limbs, and fell forward, ed by nothing but the desk in front of her. As she slowly regained some control of herself, she heard her husband—her fellow slave—speaking about their daughter. “She’s an eighteen-year-old meta-human, codename Fugue. She’s a telepath.”

Good thinking, Tenebraen, Veil thought. Their daughter, Danica, was sexy as hell. Veil had never thought of her own daughter that way, but surely, a sexy, teenaged, meta-human would please their Mistress extensively.

“Does she watch streaming videos?” Veil heard Insinua ask.

Veil grinned, knowing she could please her. “Yes, Mistress. All the time.”

“Well, slaves,” she heard her new Goddess say. “This is going to be one hell of a family reunion.”

Veil smiled, and began thinking of other ways to please her Mistress.
